Frequently Asked Questions

I commute to campus and am wondering about parking and alternative transportation options - what does UCI offer to students like me?

Below is a letter that I received from UCI's Parking and Transportation and I think the information in it will help to answer this question:

Dear UCI Students,

Please anticipate some delays when driving and parking on campus this fall, especially during the first few weeks of the quarter. To help you navigate with a minimum of delay, visit http://www.parking.uci.edu/parking/ for time-saving routes and possible closures.

LIVE CLOSE TO CAMPUS? TRY THE GREEN APPROACH
Electric Scooter/Bicycle Rebate Students living within a 4 mile radius of the campus who purchase an electric scooter or bicycle would receive a $100 rebate. Contact Kim Byrne at X1460 or kbyrne@uci.edu for details.

Students can ride OCTA buses for free. For more information about OCTA and other commute alternatives, call (949) 824-1460 or visit http://www.parking.uci.edu/at or http://www.bike.uci.edu.

HOW DO I GET THERE?
To avoid traffic delays, students should plan to access the Student Center and Social Sciences Parking Structures via Campus Drive, and the Mesa Structure via University Drive.

Remember that Pereira Drive will be barricaded from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm between the entrance to the Student Center Parking Structure and Lot 1.

NEW ROADWAYS
Anteater Dr, from Bonita Canyon/Shady Canyon to East Peltason, is now open. You may now use California Ave to access Campus Dr and Bonita Canyon South. http://www.parking.uci.edu/parking/roadmap/

ASUCI shuttle is a fast way to travel around campus. Instead of driving from lot to lot, hop on a shuttle to go to your next class. http://www.asuci.uci.edu/shuttle/index.php

PERMITS
If you have not already purchased your permit, go to http://www.parking.uci.edu Permit transaction kiosks are available at the beginning of each quarter. http://www.parking.uci.edu/templates/kioskmap/kioskmap.cfm

FORGOT YOUR PERMIT?
Students who have forgotten their permit can stop at any kiosk to pick up a one-day permit. For locations and hours of operation, please visit http://www.separking.uci.edu/reservations/

CITATIONS
You have 21 days to pay or appeal citations. http://www.parking.uci.edu/Citations/

Want a more in-depth perspective of the above information? You can view Parking policies and procedures at http://www.policies.uci.edu/adm/pols/904.html

MORE PARKING SOON
Engineering/ICS Parking Structure is scheduled to open December 2005.

We welcome your suggestions on how we can improve your commute and parking experience.
