Transfer Seminars
New transfer students who would like to be in a small class with prominent professors should be thrilled by the opportunity to enroll in one of the transfer seminars. This is the ideal way for you to interact one-on-one with a professor and this interaction is a terrific way to secure letters of recommendation in the future as well as potential research opportunities. You do not need to be in the same major or school as the seminar you would like to take, and you can easily add one of these seminars to your schedule without worrying about that extra unit of coursework, these are not intensive courses.

Transfer Success Orientation
This is a very important orientation to help with everything you need to know before fall quarter, other than academic advising (e.g. planning your schedule for fall, which is done through your school in July/August). You will get information about research, graduate school and career planning, and all the other resources available to you so you can make the most of your time at UC Irvine.

Winter quarter transfers will have a special orientation on January 4, and all winter admits should receive information in the mail and by email about how to enroll in the orientation. For more information, contact the Dean of Students at 949-824-5181.

University Studies 2 Course
This course was developed for freshmen students to help with their transition to college and to help with major selection. The Division of Undergraduate Education has added special transfer student discussion sections to this course in recognition that transfer students have special needs that differ from freshmen students.

Transfer students who are new for fall quarter 2007 are eligible to enroll in the course either fall quarter or winter quarter. New winter quarter transfers can take the course only during winter quarter. This course is ideal for transfer students who live off campus and for those who wish to double major or take on a minor and need more information. Feel free to contact the TSCP for more information.

You must enroll in both a lecture and discussion section for University Studies. Transfer students cannot enroll in discussion sections for freshmen. If you cannot fit this course into your fall schedule, you will have the opportunity to take it during winter quarter.

Academic Advising for New Transfer Students
Each school is holding advising orientations for new transfer students to help you prepare your schedule for fall quarter. You should have gotten information in the mail regarding how to enroll in one of the sessions. If you did not get this information, you need to contact the Undergraduate Counseling Office in your school for more information. You can log in to WebReg with your UCINetID and password to find out when your enrollment window opens.

Activate Your UCINetID
All UCI students have an ID and password that is used to access information on the Internet. This UCINetID is also your email address. If you have not activated yours yet, you should do this immediately. Then be sure to check your UCI email for announcements and other important information using Webmail.
