Special Message to Re-Entry Students and/or Student Parents |
|||||||||
|
Being a non-traditional transfer student is certainly not easy, but nothing of true value is ever easy. This is why I believe that re-entry students are such an important addition to the UC Irvine student body -- we worked harder than most students to get here, often in the midst of crisis in our lives, and our appreciation for where we are and our tenacity in moving forward is a positive influence on all students. There can be a downside to this attitude in that re-entry students often feel empowered by their independence. This is a time in your life where you need to lean on others, don't try to figure it all out on your own -- as a transfer student you don't have the time if you want to make the most of your undergraduate experience. The support you need to accomplish your educational goals and beyond is available to you at UC Irvine and I am here to make sure that you do not fall through the cracks. I invite you to come and talk to me about yourself (even if you just need to vent!) and your goals so we can make sure you are on the right track. If you come away from this site with only one profound thought, know that you are appreciated for your ability to get this far in accomplishing your goals and that the road ahead of you is understood by many who are here to help you navigate it effectively and efficiently -- all the way to the end! To see a list of re-entry student resources, please click here. I am pictured below with my three children at the UC Irvine Commencement Ceremony held on June 16, 2001. The overwhelming personal satisfaction I felt that day cannot be expressed in words -- however, I can promise you that the end result is worth every obstacle and hardship experienced along the way!! You deserve to feel the way I did that day and if I can do it, so can you!! |
