Transfer Student Organization

Transfer students finally have a support group just for them. The TSO holds regular meetings, provides mentorship, and workshops so membership in the club will be a huge asset to all transfer students. If you are interested in joining the TSO, stop by the Transfer Lounge to find out when the meetings will be held each quarter. Contact Umera Ameen for more information about the meeting dates/times, and especially about leadership opportunities: uameen@uci.edu.


Tau Sigma National Honor Society for Transfer Students

UC Irvine established a Tau Sigma chapter in 2004. Eligibility is determined by a transfer student's GPA only during their first full-time quarter at UCI (it must be 3.5 or higher). Contact the club officers for more information, contact informaiton is found on their website.

If you don't find what you are looking for that way, go back and click on "Full Search" this time. All references to your search words on the UCI site will appear in the results. You can also search for faculty, staff, and student contact information using the "Person" search.


UCI's Office of Financial Aid

Transfer Tip: The UCI deadline for FAFSA filing is March 2!! Don't miss this deadline or your financial aid for the next year could be affected. This is also the deadline for the CalGrant application.


Academic Counseling

This page has links to contact information for academic counselors for all UCI schools and academic units. UCI students are encouraged to plan their class schedules with an academic counselor.

Career Center

The Career Center provides assistance to transfer students in preparing for graduate school and for a career following graduation. If you are trying to make the most out of your time at UC Irvine, you must make an appointment with a career counselor as soon as possible. Watch for special transfer student workshops throughout the year.


Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP)

Find out how to get involved in research at UCI in all disciplines. You can also look at the programs for the Undergraduate Research Symposiums on their website to read the abstracts. This will give you an idea of what types of research undergraduates do in your major/school and also the faculty that mentor undergraduates.


UCI Childcare Services

Did you know that students have priority over everyone else on the childcare waiting list? Contact Shelly at TSS if you need further assistance with getting childcare on campus.

Campuswide Honors Program

Transfer students have new opportunties due to changes in eligibility requirements for CHP. Contact them to find out if you are eligible to join.


Honors Opportunities at UC Irvine


The Dean of Students

This office can give you the information you need to get involved in any club or Greek organization on campus. Also, they have internship opportunities and other ways to get involved on campus. Visit the DOS for more information on the third floor of the Student Center.


Associated Students of UCIrvine (ASUCI)

Many transfer students have served in student government on this campus before you and the need is great for your perspective. Please get involved if you have the desire! You do not need to wait until elections, many positions get filled by appointment and you are always welcome and meetings as an interested bystander.

UC Irvine Counseling Center

Do NOT be shy about contacting the Counseling Center if you are having trouble adjusting as a transfer student. The counselors there are VERY expercienced in all aspects of student life, including transfer student issues. You are paying for the service in your student fees anyway, you should use it if you need it!!


Ombudsman

The Ombudsman has broad investigatory powers, university-wide access, and the authority to ask questions and obtain information to address and resolve situations. In this role, the Ombudsman:
* Listen and discuss questions, complaints, and concerns
* Provides answers to your questions or help you find the person who can
* Explains University policies and procedures and their effect
* Open avenues of communication
* Facilitate conflict resolution
* Mediates disputes so that an acceptable resolution for all parties
* Provide advice when a remedy is not within the Ombudsman Jurisdiction

The Center for Service in Action (formerly the Volunteer Center)

Visit this office to find a wide array of volunteer opportunities both on and off campus. The Veteran's Center is also housed within this office.
